Counselling style

Person-centred counselling

I am a person-centred counsellor, rooted in the humanistic approach. This means I believe you are the expert on your own life and have the inner resources needed for positive change.

My role is to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely, enhance self-awareness, and develop the skills and tools you need to thrive.

What you can expect:

  • A safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you are accepted as you are.
  • A calm, confidential environment that respects your privacy and trust.
  • Freedom to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly and honestly.
  • Increased self-awareness and understanding of yourself and your unique journey.
  • Support to discover and develop your own coping strategies that feel right for you.
  • Encouragement to build your own capacity for change and resilience.
  • The opportunity to grow, heal and find meaning at your own pace; honouring your individuality.

What you might be experiencing:

  • Feeling dissatisfied or disconnected with life.
  • Experiencing loss, emptiness or unfulfillment.
  • Struggles with self-care and discipline.
  • Running on low & close to burnout.
  • Thoughts that you are inherently flawed.
  • Reaching out for help is a big struggle.
  • A sense that something is missing, without knowing what it is.
  • A perception of being unseen and unimportant.
  • A inner disconnection from others — alone, yet not sure why.
  • Feeling like you don’t belong, or feel on the outside.

An introduction

Qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). BACP is an accredited registered member of the Professional Standards Authority, ensuring you receive professional, ethical care.

Alongside my private practice, I work for a community-based counselling service, which has helped me build experience supporting clients with a wide range of issues and from diverse backgrounds, as they move through their own process of healing and growth.

Louise Trussell, Professional Counsellor

Your space to grow

Mental health and wellbeing is a crucial part of overall health, and therapy can be a powerful tool to enhance this. I believe that in a safe environment and with the right conditions, you can facilitate your own growth and change - choosing to grow your own way and at your own pace.

I work with your goals and needs as the focus, helping you find your own solutions and best way forward in a supportive, non-judgmental space.

In counselling, we often reflect on where we’ve come from, what has shaped us, and how we choose to grow moving forward. Your past is an important part of who you are — and so is the direction you’re heading in.
